The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the most famous bridges in NYC. Until 1903 it was the highest and longest bridge of the world, now it´s only one of the oldest. The Brooklyn Bridge is a cable-suspension bridge and the first steel-wire bridge ever constructed. It has a total length of 1.825m. The construction started in 1870and was completed in 1833. John A. Roebling built the bridge, but died before the Brooklyn Bridge was completed. The bridge connects Brooklyn and Manhattan and crosses the East River. Here are other informations about the Brooklyn Bridge: Originally, the Brooklyn Bridge was called the ,,New York and Brooklyn Bridge" and ,,East River Bridge", but later it was called the Brooklyn Bridge. MANHATTAN BRIDGE
The Manhattan Bridge is the third Bridge, that was build to cross the East River and it connects Manhattan (Chinatown) with Brooklyn. It was opened on 31st December, 1909 and finished six months later in june. The Manhattan Bridge is one of the largest bridges in New York with a total lenght of 2089 meters, two supporting pillars, each with a height of 448 meters and a 22 meter high archway. This enormous size allows it to Transport people on two different levels. It has four subway lanes of the New York City Subway, seven car lanes and also a foot and bike path. It is the last bridge along with the Williamsburg Bridge, that crosses the East River with subway lanes. Every day, there are around 320 000 subway passengers, 75 000 cars and 3 000 cycles and pedestrians that cross the Manhattan Bridge. This architectual masterpiece was designed by Leon S. Moisseif. The construction of this steel bridge cost around 31 Million US-Dollars and it also has been very often used for famous films as a backdrop. Examples are "Independence Day", "The Taking of Subway Pelham 123", "Oblivion" and "Batman: The Dark Knight Rises".

The Ed Koch Queensboro bridge is a streetbridge, who was build from 1901 to 1909 over the popularst river of New York: the East river. The extreme length oft he bridge is 2470,5 metres, 30 metres wide, the cars drive on a high of 106,7 metres, but the real high oft the bridge is 360 metres.In 2011, the bridge got a new name: „Ed Koch Queensboro bridge“, to honor of Ed Koch a former mayor of New York City. The bridge cross the long Island City from Manhattan in the 59.th. street tot he Queensbolevard. The architects were Gustav Lindenthal, who´s planned the Hell Gate bridge too and Henry Hornbostel. At the build oft he bridge, 50 persons died. To the time of build, the price for the bridge was 20 million $, but at the present time, the price would be 575 million $. The bridge hast wo floors, where in the past were two railway tracks and a street for motor vehicles in the up and two street railway tracks and four lanes in the lower floor. These days, there are no railway tracks, but in the upper floor are four lanes and in the lower floor are five lanes. The Ed Koch Queensboro bridge was the first connection between Manhattan and Queens and was very important for the development of the previously rather rural Queens.
